The Bourne Supremacy
Reviewed by Sarah Downing

In the Bourne Identity, amnesiac Jason Bourne battled with former enemies while attempting to discover his past as a CIA hit man.

Now, Bourne is back and, after lying low with his girlfriend for a while, his past has caught up with him yet again. He quickly begins to defend himself and takes action against the enemy after deciding that the only way to beat them is to fight them.

The Bourne Supremacy is a multi layered thriller which twists and turns at every opportunity. Although it is a big budget movie, it shows no real evidence of this. To its credit, it steers clear of the typical Bond formula, inclusive of mega explosions and fancy cars, and instead uses a slick style with glossy stunts and impressive car chases, complete with a shaky camera. This overall creates a more European style than that of a typical Hollywood blockbuster.

This slick formula is definitely a winner and without a doubt, the Bourne movies are among the best contenders of the espionage genre, giving the Bond franchise a run for its money. The fast pace keeps the audience on the edge of their seat throughout and the car chases are certainly some of the best in cinematic history.

If you were gripped by the Bourne Identity, there is no doubt that you will have much the same experience with the Bourne Supremacy. It is an intelligent thriller which incorporates fantastic pursuits with a strong storyline that keeps the audience guessing. This is definitely cinema entertainment at its best.
